H + T Affordability Index for the Twin Cities Region

H + T affordability index for Twin Cities Region

The Twin Cities region, according to CNT, is making it clear that living in the city is much more affordable for not only housing, but transit as well. On the flip side living outside the city core housing and transit both start to exceed 45% of gross income.

My block in the Whittier neighborhood of Minneapolis housing is 19% and housing and transit is 32%. So housing and transit combined is less than the 33% threshhold commonly used to determing affordability for housing. That leaves over 60% of income left for other costs. How does your neighborhood or area shape up?

Neat Tool

WORD. 15% & 30% for me in Powderhorn!

They have so many great maps!

One of my faves is transit ridership and travel time to work:

Transit Ridership and travel

Transit Ridership and travel time with the percentage of income really start to tell a pretty clear cut story about our region.
