Bike / ped counts - volunteers needed!

From TLC: September means Bicycling and Walking COUNT!

Last year with the assistance of 40 enthusiastic volunteers TLC conducted 54 counts at 42 locations in and around Minneapolis.  Add to this the efforts coordinated by partner agencies, Minneapolis Department of Public Works, The University of Minnesota Parking and Transportation Services, Bike Edina Task Force, St Paul Smart Trips and St Paul Department of Public works (with assistance from St Paul BAB) almost 200 counts were conducted across the Twin Cities in the month of September.

To see last year’s fall count report go to the Bike Walk Twin Cities website: http://www.bikewalktwincities.org/evaluation/bwtc-2009-count-report

This year we hope to match this effort as 2010 is the year we will report preliminary results of the Bike Walk Twin Cities program investments to congress. Our counts are scheduled for Tuesday, September 14 and Wednesday September 15 with a make-up on Thursday the 16th in case of cancellations.  The counts are conducted from 4:00 to 6:00 pm and volunteers will need to attend a training the week of September 7-10 to get instructions and materials.  Additionally in late September, TLC will be coordinating bicycling and walking intercept surveys that will supplement surveys conducted in April of this year.  Details will be announced soon.

If you are able to volunteer for this year’s count, Check out the count location map and find a Count Location that works for you and Register now.
