Sorry to have missed you!
I saw a group of guys out late last fall - a nasty cold rainy day - riding down Shepard Road in red and yellow kits. As I looked on in admiration of their fortitude at being out on such a windy road on such a crappy day, I noticed every one of the riders was black - which I'd never seen before in the Cities. Then I got a look at the club name - Major Taylor. I have to tell you, I cried right then and there. Major Taylor was (and still is) the winning-est American cyclist ever. He absolutely dominated the sport in his day - and for those who want to chant "Lance Lance Lance", you should read up on what those 6 day races were all about back in Major's day. To see him commemorated in such a way touched me deeply. I'm sad I missed an opportunity to ride with you. If you're out riding some day and some white chick drives or rides by squawkin' "Go Major" - it's probably me. Ride on, brothers and sisters. Ride on.
